Welcome to the world of amateur radio with SEMTN

Discover the rich history and vibrant community of the Southeastern Michigan Traffic Net. For 39 years, we've been connecting enthusiasts and serving the community.

Our legacy in communication

Welcome to the website of the Southeastern Michigan Traffic Net (SEMTN). We operate on 146.76 Mhz KE8HR/R (-600 Khz offset with PL100Hz) as "The Spirit of 76" Repeater out of Southfield, MI, meeting daily at 10:15 PM ET. For 39 years, SEMTN has proudly served Southeast Michigan as a local net of the National Traffic System (NTS), affiliated with the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). We're a crucial part of the NTS, an Amateur Radio Network dedicated to passing and relaying messages, known as radiograms, across the United States. It's a fun and engaging hobby enjoyed by many radio amateurs, and it also forms a vital system that can be quickly mobilized for emergency and priority messages when needed. No formal membership is required to join our community!

More than just messages

Beyond connecting people through radiograms, SEMTN fosters a strong sense of community and provides a valuable platform for learning and skill development in amateur radio. We believe in the power of communication, not just in times of crisis, but also for everyday enjoyment and growth. Our favorite part is seeing new operators learn the ropes of traffic handling and contributing to a nationwide network that provides a crucial public service. It's a blend of technical challenge, community service, and pure hobby enjoyment. We invite all licensed amateur radio stations to check in and experience the camaraderie and excitement.

A welcoming community for all

Imagine a group of dedicated, friendly individuals united by a passion for radio and communication – that's the vibe at SEMTN! We're a diverse mix of experienced operators and eager newcomers, all committed to supporting each other and the broader amateur radio community. What makes SEMTN welcoming is our open-door policy: all licensed Amateur Radio Stations are welcome, invited, and encouraged to join us whenever possible to check into the net and learn how to handle Radiogram Traffic. There's always someone willing to help, share knowledge, and ensure everyone feels like a valued part of our network. Come and experience the supportive atmosphere firsthand!
